Jumping into xAPI for the first time can seem daunting. Almost as daunting as learning to become an eLearning game designer.
As luck would have it, we've found an eLearning game designer who recently took the plunge into the wonderful world of xAPI and used his knowledge of game design and blend the two as a learning opportunity.
Jeffrey Riley is one of the hundreds of xAPI cohort attendees who decided to no longer lurk and learn, but to jump in with both feet and learn about xAPI by creating a project that connected with his love of game design. He learned all about the xAPI standard, and how to write statements without knowing any code at all. And going through the process he learned more about how to use an LRS and connect it to his LMS. And learning about the data analysis was an added bonus.

About Jeffrey Riley
Jeffrey Riley has over 30 years’ experience in the learning industry as an educator and in the business world. He has worked with businesses in several industries including insurance, retail, financial services, city government, and construction. Jeffrey worked with the Construction Financial Managers Associate to create a board game for the financial managers to play at their annual conference. The game was so successful that it is still played at regional meetings. This year, Jeffrey is presenting at GamiCon21 and Rutgers OnLine Conference.
Currently, Jeffrey is a Gamification Master Craftsman with Sententia Games and the owner of Practical Learning Concepts consulting with businesses to implement eLearning, and gamification. He is consulting with Dr. Ray Jimenez with online workshops in Workflow Learning.
Along with his professional work, Jeffrey is the VP Technology for the MID NJ ATD Chapter in New Jersey and heads up the Technology Showcase for the Chapter.
